5010: Acknowledgment Transactions

X12 standards provide robust acknowledgments at several levels, including implementation guide errors (999) and claim acknowledgment (277CA).

There are four acknowledgment implementation guides in X12 version 5010:

• 277CA
  Claim acknowledgment information is sent from a payer without health care provider solicitation
• 999
  Reporting of X12 syntactical errors and implementation guide adherence errors
• 997
  Reporting of X12 syntactical errors
• 824
  Reporting of errors outside the scope of the 997 and 999
