Combined Guides Available for all nine 004010 HIPAA EDI IGs

WPC has created Combined EDI Implementation Guides by incorporating the original May 2000 X12N EDI Implementation Guides and the October 2002 EDI Addenda adopted for use under HIPAA. WPC uses the identical EDI HIPAA metadata databases used to create the May 2000 HIPAA EDI Implementation Guides and the October 2002 EDI Addenda to ensure that the WPC Combined Guides are comprehensive documents. Some of the WPC Combined EDI Guides also contain known errata corrections to typographical errors found in the original Implementation Guides. Details of these corrections, if any, are outlined in Appendix D.

A Final Rule adopting the October 2002 Addenda for use under HIPAA was published by the US Department of Health and Human Services in the Federal Register on February 20, 2003.

The WPC Combined EDI Guides are WPC products, and are intended to aid in the implementation of the transactions by combining the official documents into one user friendly document.

The WPC Combined EDI Guides are not official X12, X12N or X12N Task Group work products, nor are they adopted for use under HIPAA. In the event that there is a conflict in information contained in the WPC Combined EDI Guides and the official X12N May 2000 Implementation Guides or the October 2002 Addenda, the official X12N publications are to be considered the authoritative documents for HIPAA.
