Introduction
Washington Publishing Company is an active member of ASC X12 and publishes the output of X12's subcommittees.
To support the standards setting efforts of the X12 volunteers, WPC provides:
On-Line Conferences
A threaded discussion facility used by X12 members and non-members for general information sharing and for IG/TR3 document review. Document Management
Categories and sub-categories of documents, such as the X12N/TG4 IG Handbook, On-Line Conference Archives, Meeeting Minutes
ASC X12
The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) accredits committees as Accredited Standards Committees (ASC).
ASC X12 is the U.S. standards body for the cross-industry development, maintenance, and publication of electronic data exchange standards, based on,
but not limited to X12 EDI, XML, and UN/EDIFACT formats. As the preferred standards body for defining requirements of electronic business document
content, ASC X12 also serves as a key player in international forums by contributing to the universal core component work and message design architecture.
ASC X12 has several "lettered" subcommittees that develop Implementation Guides:
- X12C is the designation for the Communications and Control Committee
- X12F is the Finance subcommittee
- X12N is the the Insurance subcommittee.
The Data Interchange Standards Association, DISA 
is X12's secretariat. WPC and DISA work together as publisher and secretariat for the ASC X12 volunteer committee members.
