Implementation Guides and Technical Reports Type 3
Since the mid-90's, ASC X12N has been publishing EDI Implementation Guides (IGs) based on the X12 standard transaction sets. Most of those IGs are for transaction sets controlled by X12N, the Insurance Subcommittee, but some have been for transaction sets controlled by other subcomiittees, such as, X12F, the Finance Subcommittee.

A new type of X12 Technical Report was recently established, Technical Report Type 3, or simply TR3. Conceptually a TR3 is an implementation guide, but in this case, these publications are offical output of the entire X12 committee, not just X12N. In addition X12C and X12F have begun to develop TR3s.

Information about each X12 IG and TR3 is available from the Implementation Guide Registry. Each is listed by ID, X12 Transaction Set ID, X12 Version, Responsible Task Group/Work Group, and the guide's name. Click on the name of any guide for additional details, such as, purpose and scope and primary trading parterns.

Final and Draft IGs/TR3s
At the discretion of the Implementation Guide Development Group, works in progress are available from the WPC Store at no cost, while final documents are available for a small fee.
