The EDI team at Railinc coordinates EDI standard setting activities and initiatives of the railroad industry with the responsible business process owners. This team maintains and publishes all railroad industry related EDI Guidelines as they pertain to the industry's implementation of the ASC X12 standards.

Publication of the Rail Industry Guide to Electronic Data Interchange is completed on an annual basis and follows closely the ASC X12 version release cycle.

In addition, the EDI Team is responsible for Forward & Store. Railinc developed the Forward & Store application to facilitate more timely notification of on-coming traffic to participants in a rail movement. This is facilitated via the application of industry sanctioned edits and distribution based on carrier involvement to the waybill and trip planning processes. Weekly statistical reports are available to railroads participating in Forward & Store.
