HIPAA Implementation
Guide Table Data
Section 3 of each implementation guide is typeset from a centralized database.
HIPAA table data is a set of comma-delimited files and one structured file --
for free-form text -- all derived from the typesetting database that produces
the implementation guides.
The HIPAA Implementation Guide Table
Data incorporates the May 2000 X12N Implementation Guides and the October
2002 Addenda adopted for use under HIPAA.
Several tables are subsets
of the X12 Table Data distributed by ASC X12's secretariat, the Data
Interchange Standards Association, DISA. The HIPAA Implementation Guide
Table Data is sold by DISA to support the X12 standards setting process.

Although
not yet named as HIPAA-mandated transactions, a Notice of Propsed
Rulemaking (NPRM) is in process for the "Electronic Claim
Attachment" business process. The NPRM is expectd to name two
additional X12N Implementation guides, one to Request (004050) additional information necessary to adjudicate a claim and another containing the Response (004050). The response transaction has an HL7 message embedded in it.
Table data is available now for these two X12N Implementation Guides, but it is possible that later versions will be named when a final rule is published:
